Economist Direct has now changed to an SMS-alert only service.
All accounts on Economist Direct have been closed, and payment information deleted, because you will no longer be able to purchase single copies of The Economist through this service. You will continue to receive the weekly text messages advising you of the leading articles. If you would prefer not to receive these texts, you can opt-out at any time by texting STOP to 61211.
If you wish to continue purchasing single issues of The Economist, you can either purchase via the newsstand, where copies are available every Friday, or you can purchase single digital copies by downloading The Economist app (available for iPhone and iPad on iTunes, and for Android via the Android marketplace*).
Alternatively, I would be happy to welcome you as a subscriber and can offer, for a limited time only, the opportunity for you to purchase 12 issues for £1 as an introductory rate.
As a subscriber you will receive unrestricted access to The Economist online, full and free access to our apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices* and access to the weekly audio edition.
I hope you continue to enjoy reading The Economist every week.
Yours sincerely
Yvonne Ossman
Publisher, UK
* The Economist on Android operates on Android phones and small and medium tablets running OS2.X
